Weekly Style Recap: August 18-22, 2025

Happy Saturday!

It’s strange how sometimes I can be crazy busy at work, even though my calendar is relatively sparse. A meeting will produce an impromptu discussion, which can sometimes last even longer than the meeting itself that sparked it! Such was the case on Friday—an hour-long meeting with a department spurred an even longer post discussion internally amongst ourselves after the meeting ended. Because it was an afternoon meeting, I even ended up leaving for the day later than normal! Was I upset about it? Not even in the slightest. The meeting—and subsequent conversation—raised very valid topics and concerns.

This Got Me Thinking

Normally, I use this section to write about something that caught my eye, evoked some kind of emotion, or something I wanted to reflect on, and share with you. This week, I just wasn’t feeling it. I couldn’t find that spark. At first, I wondered if I should force it—pick something, reach for some kind of a lesson. Maybe the absence itself is worth noting. Not every week has to carry a warning or a call to action. Sometimes there are plenty of headlines or events, but none that truly resonate with me.

For me, the stories that stick usually aren’t the biggest breaches or the splashiest numbers. It’s the ones that brush up against the human side of security—trust being shaken, a familiar mistake repeating, or choices that quietly change how people feel about technology. That’s the space I tend to occupy, that’s when I feel more inspired, and that’s when I want to share.

This week, nothing sparked that kind of pause. You know? That’s okay. The work of security keeps moving no matter what, but the reflections don’t have to be forced. Sometimes the quiet is just part of the rhythm.

I didn’t really seem to have much to say this week. And this is my gentle reminder that it is perfectly okay—not every week must be full of insights and reflections.

Finally, here’s a look back at what I wore to work this week. I hope you enjoy them. Have a wonderful and safe weekend!
