SECURE, IN STYLE

Weekly Style Recap: September 29-October 3, 2025

Happy Saturday! Yes, you read that correctly. I’m actually writing this a day early, as I’m headed to a Twenty One Pilots concert Sunday evening. Very excited for it, as it’s been several years since last seeing them! I’ll confess that I haven’t yet listened to their latest album that was recently released, but at this point, I’m thinking that I am going to let myself be surprised by any new songs they incorporate into the show. I’ve even taken Monday off to recover, as we will be traveling and coming back home rather late, and I want to be well-rested. ☺️

Work life has been, interesting. I’m still being kept incredibly busy for sure, but I continue to find myself diving into desktop support related projects and issues. I’ve also been tasked to help the technicians with a massive amount of office moves coming over the next couple of months. I don’t have any issue at all with chipping in when needed, and am always happy to do so. Lately, when I’ve had down time, I’ve been doing a bit of reflection, and have noticed that even though my role has changed in title where I work, I don’t seem to actually be doing anything related to it. I’m not sure whether it’s because I haven’t been exposed to the things I need exposure to, because I’m afraid of the responsibility (which I won’t deny that I am), or even if it’s a combination of the two.

I want to do more. I have the passion.

But, I’m certainly afraid. The imposter syndrome is strong in this one. At the same time, I feel that I may be in a position where I might not have the room to fly. It’s funny—I desperately want to fly and soar, but want to keep my feet firmly planted on the ground at the same time. Sadly, both are not possible at the same time. 😂

Naturally, I will have to have a discussion with the director to perhaps try and lay out a path for me, something that is clearly labeled for me to walk. While I do like having the freedom and trust to do what I wish, I think I need to have some things in place that are concrete.

This Got Me Thinking

It’s been a while since I’ve gone back to my roots—writing about style and always trying to find a way it unexpectedly connects to cybersecurity. This week, what pulled me back wasn’t a headline or a new policy, but a fragrance I picked up fairly recently—Burberry London. To my surprise, I fell in love with it almost instantly.

There’s something grounding and intoxicating about its mix of warmth and spice—like stepping into autumn, and subtly instills quiet confidence. It doesn’t announce itself, but it lingers, soft and steady. That’s what drew me to it: its restraint. In a way, it reminds me of the kind of security that’s always there, working quietly in the background, never needing to shout. It’s soft-spoken, and that’s my vibe.

Both scent and security are forms of invisible identity. One introduces who you are, the other preserves who you are. You choose both carefully—layer by layer, note by note—until they feel like extensions of yourself. When they do, you don’t have to think about them. You just move through the world a little more confident, a little more you.

It got me thinking—what are those quiet signatures we each carry? The ones that speak for us before we say a word, or quietly shield us when we’re not paying attention. Maybe it’s a favorite fragrance, a personal ritual, or a bit of digital mindfulness that helps us move with confidence. In the end, both scent and security remind us that protection can be subtle—something we build through intention, not fear.

I continue to surprise myself each week with these posts. Many times, I start down the path of writing with absolutely no idea of what to write about. And yet—each week—I manage to find a tale I wish to tell the world.

Finally, here is a look back at what I wore to work this week. Please enjoy them! A major event took place this week—I have changed locations, and have relocated to a new parking garage. It’s going to take a little getting used to, as I have been using the other garage since it was built back in 2003, and I’ve been taking my outfit pictures there for fourteen or fifteen years now. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
